Trip day numbers 155-156 were our final days in Nepal. I will go ahead and mention the most important part of these 48 hours — our hotel Un Dia Blanco Eco Inn had HOT water. Our room and the room next door shared a propane tank to heat the shower water. I am learning to appreciate the little things in our everyday life that I normally take for granted.
We visited Bouddhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple — both were within an hour walk of our hotel. This made for an easy day, as we did not have to figure out transportation — again difficult because of the fuel shortage.
- Gate at the entrance to Bouddhanath Stupa.
- Monks stood still admist the pigeons and waited for passerbys to give them alms.
- The picture in this photo shows Bouddhanath before the earthquake. It is currently being rebuilt.
- Prayer wheels
- Woman spinning the prayer wheels (under the flags) that circled the stupa.
- Candles burning and offerings in small shrine inside Bouddhanath.
- More offerings
- Buddhas
- Prayer beads for sale.
After walking around Bouddhanath Stupa, we embarked on the 45 minute walk to Pashupatinath Temple. I had so many questions about the things we saw, but no one to ask. Walking around town continues to be my favorite activity in the places we visit.
- Dusty streets with rubble. We wondered if the rubble was clean-up from the earthquake or piles of rock that were going to be used in street repair.
- Donut maker along the way. The donuts were very tasty.
- Where is this lovely, dressed-up couple headed?
- Monkeys everywhere outside Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal.
- Pashupatinath Temple
- This fellow was a little curious.
- Is this how total contentment looks?
- Hilltop view of Kathmandu.
- Good message written on the menu board.
Beautiful pictures and wonderful story.
